Dag,
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued that Captain Dreyfus and his family are buried there, as Jews are usually buried, according to religious law, in special Jewish cemeteries or subdivisions. Is there a Jewish section at Montparnasse, or are the Dreyfuses buried among the general population?
Hmm, was Simone de Beauvoir really nothing more significant than just "his [Sartre's] partner"?
ReplyDeleteGary - as far as I remember most of the Jewish graves were in a section of the cemetery.
ReplyDeleteTrond - concerning Simone de Beauvoir, I agree that I should have said more about her than "just "his [Sartre's] partner"... The caption has been corrected accordingly.
