You might be interested to know that the original headstone for Daniel Defoe's grave was discovered a number of years ago and donated to the public library in Stoke Newington, London (where Defoe used to live, and where a road and pub have been named after him). It was placed on display in a glass cabinet in the library's entrance hall. I'm not sure if it's still on display as I moved away from the area around ten years ago.
ReplyDeleteThanks, this was quite interesting. Maybe I should check it out next time I am in London!
