UK: Princess Eugenie's third child is born

Buckingham Palace announced today the birth of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's third child, a girl, born at Hospital da Luz in Lisbon, Portugal, Monday 3 August 2026:

Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, born on Monday, 3rd August 2026, at 6.20pm, at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal.

The baby was born weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces.

Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of The Royal Family were delighted to be informed of the news.

The pregnancy was announced in early May.

Princess Eugenie is the younger daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (formerly Prince Andrew, Duke of York) and Sarah Ferguson. Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank, eldest son of George Brooksbank and Nicola Brooksbank, née Newton, on 12 October 2018. The couple's first son, August, was born on 9 February 2021, while Ernest was born on 30 May 2023.

The baby girl, whose name is not made public yet, is currently no. 15 in the line of succession to the British throne.

UK: Princess Eugenie and Mr. Jack Brooksbank are expecting their third child

Buckingham Palace announced today that Princess Eugenie and Mr. Jack Brooksbank are expecting their third child:

Princess Eugenie and Mr. Jack Brooksbank are expecting their third child

Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child together, due this summer.

August (aged 5) and Ernest (aged 2) are also very excited to have another sibling join the family.

His Majesty The King has been informed and is delighted with the news.

The addition to the family, if nothing else happens in the meantime, will at birth become no. 15 in the line of succession to the British throne.

UK: Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank have become parents again

Princess Eugenie of York announced on her Instagram account today, 5 June 2023, that she gave birth to her and her husband Jack Brooksbank's second son on 30 May 2023:

Jack and I wanted to share the news that we had our little boy, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank on 30th May 2023 at 8.49 weighing 7.1lbs.

He is named after his great great great Grandfather George, his Grandpa George and my Grandpa Ronald.

Augie is loving being a big brother already.

The couple's first son, August, was born on 9 February 2021. The (almost) newborn baby boy, who is 13th in line of succession to the British throne, has, if I understand it correctly, been named Ernest after his great-great-great-grandfather King George V (1865–1936), whose full name was George Frederick Ernest Albert, George after his grandfather George Brooksbank (1949–2021), father of Jack, and Ronnie after his great-grandfather Ronald Ferguson (1931–2003), father of Sarah, Duchess of York.

The announcement doesn't say anything about where the baby boy was born, but I would guess that Portland Hospital in London, where August was born, is the most likely place of birth.

UK: Name of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's son has been announced

Buckingham Palace issued the following statement through social media today concerning the name of Princess Eugenie of York and Jack Brooksbank's child:

Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank have announced that they have named their son August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.

The couple have been touched by the well wishes they have received on the birth of their first child, and are delighted to share this first photo as a family.

The photo can be viewed by following the link above.

Baby boy August Brooksbank was born at the Portland Hospital in London on 9 February 2021. The name August might come as a surprise, but not the second given name Philip after his great-grandfather. According to Peerage News, the name Hawke is from the Brooksbank family. It should be added that there are quite a few members of the British royal family named Augustus throughout history, and I guess that could be one explanation? The other would of course be that the parents just happen to like the name!

Postscript 20 February 2021 at 5.55 p.m.): Princess Eugenie has been quoted as writing that her son was named after «both of his great x5 grandfathers», i.e. Rev. Edward Hawke Brooksbank, as mentioned by Peerage News, see link above, and Prince Albert (Francis Albert Augustus Charles Emmanuel), husband of Queen Victoria. It seems that the quote was posted on Princess Eugenie's Instagram account as an «Instagram Story». I have seen the quote, but have no idea how to make a link to it. However, a screenshot has been published at among others  Gert's Royals' Twitter account
